tales from the Dark side Empty tales from the Dark side

Here's a few I wrote, what seems like a lifetime ago.
Although not intentional, I always seem to fall (unintentionally) into the same meter.

    Bad Company
The rains come down to cleanse the earth,
A lone man gives the crowd wide berth.
Though comfortable in his peace alone,
    Curious of the group's unknown.
Perfectly able to fit in there,
but never venturing to go where
One man's image could get lost,
To be Himself at any cost.
Such is the way of a chosen few,
Alone together, they pay their due.
Bonding slow, and not too often,
The ties are strong, and do not soften.
    Not really a partner, or exactly a friend;
No promise forever, but there to the end.

    Distant Thunder

I hear the thunder call my name,
The lightning strikes. I feel the pain.
A longing burns in side of me,
A wild spirit I cannot tame.

Throughout my life I've come to see
What others wanted me to be,
They never feel the fire's rage
in them the way it feels in me.

    A time before, another page;
Much like a beast kept in a cage.
How bad it wants to be alone,
My dread of this you cannot gauge.

The wall is weak, I hear it groan.
This edge I will forever roam
Until distant thunder calls me home.

    Embrace the Night

The light has faded across the land
Darkness comes; the Night at hand.
No fear the shade incurs in me,
I do not need the light to See.
And with the night does silence begin,
Free of all the daytime's din.
Some fear the dark and what it may bring,
but enjoy it instead, and fear not a thing!
For I see the night not as an end,
But the return of a long-time friend.

    A Separate Path

    A heart of fire,
    Yet calm and cold;
    There burns desire,
    But none so bold
    To speak a word
    Or ask the name,
    Though some have heard,
    That's not the same.
Most are judged before they're met,
All this done by the arrogant set.
Although they would not lose a lot,
Some would still yet rather not
Deal with those of a separate path
And make a friend, or feel their wrath.

None of us is as bad as the worst thing we have done; and none as good as the best thing.

Wonderful poems, Dark 1! I especially like a Separate Path...I've known that feeling of isolation and people afraid of getting to know me. Great insight....Thanks and welcome....
