The Sky's the Limit Empty The Sky's the Limit

Post by Pegasus Sat Jul 25, 2009 8:27 am

I have been wanting to skydive ever since I was seventeen. I would have joined the military, back in the day, to become a paratrooper if I
could, but back then they did not take women. I always thought tomorrow was another day and that at some point in my life,
jumping from a plane would be a done deal.

But life is never that cut and dry. Man proposes, God disposes...So once again, this year I hoped to finally do the deed before I get too old.

But once again, life has intervened...this time in a big, big way...

Still, I do believe in timing and when the time is right, I will jump (with parachute of course.)So in the meantime, I am soaring in my head and leave you with this poem:

    THE SKY'S THE LIMIT

    Arms outstretched, opened wide
I gaze upon a great divide.
    Metal bird, wings that soar
    Take me to the evermore...
Then let me go, down to below
Poised, I take a breath............................ then jump......................................
    Plummeting
    Through pristine
    Clouds of chrystalline
    Shards of ice
    Flashes of white
    Winds slap
    And attack
    My breath held back
    Plunging downward
    Spiral dances
    Gravity is not my friend
    Nor backward glances
It's time! Screams my inner voice
I heed the words and make the choice
    And yank the cord,
Such reward, to hear the swoosh of parachute
    Relief I absolutely can't refute.
The ground below spreads its arms
Mother Earth turns on her charm
    She calls to me...
Such ecstasy, the view from up above
I'm sailing down, like peaceful dove
    Sailing... soaring... sailing.......
    ...Glance below...
The canvas getting larger, verdant, the greens diverging
Becoming bushes, trees and grass, details emerging
And then my feet touch ground at last.
Replete yet empty, I look up
Blinded by the sun once more
I want to rise again and soar
    'Gainst gravity and Newton's law...
I gather parachute and walk away
Thinking that tomorrow is another day.....

    xoxo

Isn't that the way life goes...so unfortunate that it revolves around money or time, and lack of either. The way my luck currently is going,,my chute would not opening...LOL

But I have always believed that we an expiration date stamped on us....and when it is your time to go...then poof....

The Sky's the Limit Empty Expiration Date

I have used that phrase in casual conversation so many times regarding a variety of subjects. Last night I told a friend that if I was five minutes away from my expiration date, I would be resolutely looking for a loophole. Of course, the spontaneous combustion would probably get to me anyway.

It is so true though...When you gotta go, you gotta go...LOL...But yeah, I'm hoping to go skydiving this Fall. I've just given up planning it. When the time is right I'll just get in the car, drive down to the place and tell them "I'm ready! Let's go!"
